Epsilon Revamps Its Back Office to Support Pivot to Enterprise Services

by Lionel Casey

It was initially targeted on the wholesale provider marketplace, Epsilon Telecommunications Ltd. It is pivoting to become a fully-fledged enterprise services provider — however, to do this, it wishes to redesign its OSS and BSS abilties.

Founded in 2003, Epsilon has 220 Points of Presence (around a hundred are entirely owned) in 26 markets. The enterprise has grown from a London-primarily based startup to an international business with approximately a hundred and seventy personnel divided nearly frivolously among the United Kingdom and Singapore.

Enterprise Services

Epsilon is expanding its abilities to provide give-up-to-give-up solutions for organization customers, together with SDN-enabled records center interconnect offerings, SD-WAN connectivity, and global agency voice offerings. To transport up the cost chain, the organization is embarking on a network and BSS/OSS modernization application led by Colin Whitbread, who joined at the beginning of 2019 as Epsilon’s Managing Director of Service and Operations.

Epsilon’s community was originally built using optical infrastructure from Alcatel-Lucent (now part of Nokia), Ekinops, and BTI Systems, which was received with the aid of Juniper in 2016.

In the last 12 months, Epsilon upgraded its community with the addition of Juniper’s Metro Fabric device.

That underlying networking infrastructure supports Epsilon’s SDN platform, Infiny, which mixes on-call for network capability, automation, a Web-based portal, and APIs to “provide partners friction-free access to worldwide connectivity.” (Infinity became a finalist in the Telco Cloud Strategy category of this year’s Leading Lights awards.)

Infinity forms a part of Epsilon’s homegrown BSS/OSS stack. While Epsilon has successfully automated an enormous portion of its operations with Infiny, there continue to be some gaps Whitbread is looking to fill– and speedy.

“Transforming to an agency-targeted business requires scalability. The more computerized we’re, the more correctly we can scale,” he notes. Inventory, network tracking, and carrier control are some of the recognition areas for Epsilon’s Bulgarian-based software program improvement group.

With the shift in the enterprise version, Epsilon also needs to emerge as more proactive and targeted in terms of purchaser enjoyment. “We’ve had to expand new KPIs and improve our alternate manipulate procedures,” explains Whitbread.

So, how is Epsilon coping with winning enterprise within the mature and aggressive business enterprise communications market? “By being keener and more flexible than the competition,” says Whitbread.

He cites an instance of a current sports activity match in Eastern Europe that required a network to be set up in just four weeks to bring the published video to London via a network comprising the infrastructure of five different companies. Stitching this collectively, at brief, be aware that an occasion of the constrained period has not become the sort of service turn-up many network operators could enjoy. But by its flexibility, Epsilon has burnished its reputation as the lead provider inside the challenge, which, the operator claims, has already brought about similar revenue possibilities.
